An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed a Post Doctorate graduate program accredited by CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation) in the specialty of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Becoming Board Certified is a process that starts with first being Educationally Qualified by attending and completing an accredited Orthodontic Specialty program. The certification process involves a thorough Written Examination covering all areas of information on which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful passage allows the orthodontist to present treated cases, which will be evaluated by expert examiners of the Board during a Clinical and Oral Examination. Certification is now awarded for a time-limited period and the orthodontist must re-examine on a periodic basis to retain the board certified status.
Dr. Ehsani’s great level of orthodontics training comes from the faculty of Orthodontics at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute of Oral Health. The faculty has given Dr. Ehsani the tools, experience, and knowledge to treat all types of Orthodontic cases both contemporary and surgically. Dr.Ehsani trained under the directions of Professor Emeritus J Daniel Subtelny who was a chairman of the department for over 60 years. Professor Subtelny was a student of Dr. Alan J. Brodie who was trained under Dr. Edward H. Angle, Father of American Orthodontics.
Dr. Ehsani has received numerous scholarships, awards, and recognitions based on academic merit, clinical performance and altruism toward faculty, peers, and patients. Dr. Ehsani has treated thousands of patients from the Military family including the Department of Navy in San Diego. He has awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Military Family members.
Dr. Ehsani is also one of only a few orthodontists in the U.S. who is also a professionally trained engineer. Dr. Ehsani was born when his mother was a medical student and he has a high index of immediate family members prominent in different areas of Medicine and Dentistry. He is a younger child of two, which his older sister is a distinguished Neonatologist in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Ehsani graduated from High School at the age of 14 and received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the age of 18.
Dr. Ehsani has been active in an Orthodontics and Dental research and development, published and presented his research projects and findings at National Institute of Health, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. His Senior Thesis research in a published after a peer-reviewed session titled ” Form change adjacent to missing posterior teeth in the mandible: A Morphometric Study”. He has been a beta tester for a prominent orthodontic manufacturer in California.
Dr. Ehsani is an active member of the San Diego County Dental Society, He is also a specialist member of different study clubs in the San Diego County providing Continuing Education lectures, and has been a regular speaker for a local Continuing Educational Group Lecture Series providing CE lectures to local dental professionals.
