Dr. Ehsani grew up in New York and earned his orthodontic specialty training at the renowned Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester. He trained under Professor Emeritus J. Daniel Subtelny, who chaired the department for decades and whose own teaching lineage traces back to Dr. Edward H. Angle, widely regarded as the father of American orthodontics.
He is also one of only a few orthodontists in the United States who is a professionally trained engineer, having completed his engineering degree as a young man. That dual training gives him a sharp eye for the biomechanics and facial growth structures behind every treatment decision.
Board Certification and Professional Memberships
Dr. Ehsani is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the oldest and one of the most respected specialty boards in dentistry. Board certification is voluntary. It requires an orthodontist to be examined by their peers on both knowledge and treated cases, and to re-examine periodically to keep the credential. Giving back is central to his practice: he and his team have provided pro bono orthodontic care for underserved children in San Diego County and neighboring communities in Mexico, and have run marathons together to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
